Ahhhh Jon,

Its a sad day mate, Steve Irwin was a good bloke and me and the kids always enjoyed watching him on TV, especially the way he always made time for kids both his own and those that came to Australia zoo.

Our deepest condolences to his family, Discovery Channel won't be the same without him.

Thanks for the update, sad as it is.

Saimee

As sad as his passing may be, I think we should remember & celebrate what he has done for nature when he was alive. He lived life on the edge filming with very dangerous and / or poisonoous creatures and all it took was one simple mistake & that was the end. At least he died doing what he loved best. How many of us can say that when our time comes. What I have said is probably extremely cliche, but that's how I feel.

No cliche Mak,

I was just saying to the missus earlier that getting do something you love and getting paid for it is really having your cake and eating it.

In many ways, I envy what Steve was able to do and the contribution that he made to something he felt so strongly about i.e. wildlife conservation. Like you I believe that there is a strong cautionary lesson to be learnt in that one must always respect mama nature and her creatures, if not you will get hurt when you least expect it....

So the next time you gaff a Tenggiri in the middle of a hot bite, or decide to handle an Ah Seng or ray to get rid of its spines, remember that fish have teeth and stings which will hurt you if you get sloppy...hmmm I probably just jinxed myself by typing this..... Good thing Amberjacks don't have teeth.
