Cranking power = Low gear ratio + long handle , High max drag = large area of drag surface + good quality drag washers .

Just imagine you are going uphill using your highest gear ratio on a bicycle , you definitely feel the pain on you tigh , won't you ?

Yes , high geared ratio is not ideal for cranking n low gear ratio is a better alternative .

That is the ideal reel unfortunately only trolling reels have this features , spinning n casting reels don't have it yet .

Actually these days, there are quite a few 2 speed overhead pocket-rocket reels that wouldn't fall under the classification of trolling reels. I guess they could be considered jigging reels. Just to name a few -- Daiwa Saltist 2 speed, Shimano Talica, Avet SX 2 speed, Accurate Boss 2 speed. With a well-practised casting technique & educated thumb, these reels can be used for casting metal jigs & heavier poppers & swimmers.

Years ago, Shimano had a Beastmaster Bantam 2 speed baitcasting reel. It was a real gem!!! Thought I still have one, but for life of me I can't seem to find it!!!

Another high speed reel with Good Cranking power - Ocea jigger series High Speed...(Gold colour)

Used once in Taiwan waters, thumbs up on the cranking. Almost effortlessly.....

Althought I am a Daiwa fan,Shimano cranking wins hand down..... While the others brands have to keep up....

    Cheers
