Anyone keen to join me for a "no-bait"/100% Salty Rubber-ing trip? Once I get 5 pax the trip will be on This will be 100% cost sharing okay? All you need is a heavy overhead bass outfit... max 20lb line test! Not advisable to use spin gear but if you insist I'm okay with it too

    Hi Stickbom

I'm interested, when? But i got no BC set at the moment.
Understand that BC is better at taking in slack line n better
'feel' in terms of fish bite or sangkok.

Yo MD! Yeah BC reels lets you control the slack better because you need to constantly pick up slack/lower your lure as the boat drifts over shallower/deeper waters. Once we get 5 more participants I'll figure out the dates for everyone

    Mikey,

Tried salty rubbers at spratlys. Landed a grouper kilo size and 4 snappers. Did not use them much though cos the heaviest I got is 60g. Need to get 80g and 100g from Brain soon.

    How

How, Duel has Salty Rubber in 100g. Check with the Duel importer in your part of town and see if they can get it for you. SHOUT has them in 90g models

Yo Vinz! swee lar... I'm waiting for Ben (AO) to finish "hot-rodding" a Majorstick Satellite 73X for me... it's going to be paired with the Blacksheep This should give me a better chance of something big pounces on my Salty Rubber

Okay so far we have- MD06, Sebby, Vinz & me... 2 more to go before I go bug Ah Cheng for a date!

    Mikey,

Doubt the salty rubber comes in 100g. Not as advertised in Salt World magazine anyway. Shimano and Brain do though.

Where can I purchase this lure in Singapore? It looks so quaint that I must get it. What kind of tackle is needed for a trip like this?

Hi LL, as far as I know, Sea Tackle, Sincere Tackle, Sabre Tackle and Anglers Hut sells the Salty Rubber and my personal preference for tackle would be a heavy bass outfit. Overhead Bass rod rated rod 10-20lb around 6-7 feet long paired to an ABU 5600, Calcutta 200 or Millionaire 203 sized reel would be ideal. 14-20lb braid is enough to land 99% of the fish you will encounter in Singapore. By the way, are you local? Would you like to join our Salty trip?

hehehe...I was thinking with 6 salty rubbers dangling off Ah Cheng's boat... we might get more hits. Okay I'll call Cheng and get some dates from him. It'll be you, MD06, Vinz and me. Lets cut it off at 5 okay? I'll try to see if my buddy LAYMAN wants to seek revenge on that fish that straightened his stock hooks two weeks ago

HEY LAYMAN... WANT TO JOIN US?

    Hi Stickbom!

Looks like I'll have to pay Mrs Poh a visit. What sizes and colours would be recommended for your trip? and yes, I'm Singaporean and I'd like to join your expedition if it is on Saturdays and if there are any vacancies left.

Is this going to be an entirely jigging and lure trip? I have returned to fishing after a 5 year hiatus and my tackle is ummm... outdated to today's JDM lures. Seems like nobody use Rappalas anymore!
