I tested the FG and GT knots I tied last week using Okuma Jig Giant PE5 (Should be the same as YGK jigman ultra X and also Whipsplash PE7 with JM FC #27 by pulling. For FG knots, the breakage using both lines was always about 55lbs. Burst at the end of the leader all the time. My GT knots burst at around 40-50lbs. Anyone gets higher breakage strength? Just want to... [Read More] |

Hello,
New to the site and looking for a medium heavy GT rod. Had the chance to test a Ripple Fisher GT82 rod. Very easy casting, a joy to cast all day long. Has anyone used their GT rods? I like to know how sturdy these rods are. Thanks
ED

Hi
I am new to this forum. Stella and saltigas are kind of expensive.
I was looking at the caldia kix and shimano twin power. Will they hold
up for a fishing trip to the maldives?

I am going to start popping. Very newbie in popping and going finalise my order for the '08 model today. I know this reel is designed for bottom or jigging. The gear ratio of 4.8 doesnt seem too low but is it suitable for popping or I need SW10000XG for that?

I am thinking of getting OJ 4000 but not sure whether it is suitable for heavy jigging or not. It's because when I use my OJ 4000P, I am always one of the last who reel all the line in and everyone is waiting. Not sure with higher gear ration can speed up. At the moment, I am using Accu 870, 665 Narrow, 665 Extra Narrow and OJ 4000P for jigging.
I am thinking of using it to pair it with my JM 450g custom rod to jig 500g. Anyone who has use it has any problem cranking in heavy... [Read More] |

Between this two, which one do you recommend? Planning to get one to pair with a PE 3-6 rod for medium to medium heavy jigging and bottom. Is the Boss 870N in the same league as these reels?
